I recently purchased the Bear X Desire RD Self-Cocking Crossbow with Red Dot Sight and I must say, Im impressed. Although it takes a little bit of strength to cock, once its done, its incredibly accurate.
The crossbow itself is very lightweight and the original sights are spot on. I did have an issue with the red dot sight being installed incorrectly, but after calling customer service, Greg was incredibly helpful and a new one is already on the way.
The three bolts that come with the crossbow have screw-on tips and it came with most tools needed for assembly. I did have to use a Phillips screwdriver, but nothing too difficult.
My wife was surprised by the kickback but to me, it was minimal and the noise when firing is very low. I did purchase an additional 250 pack of bolts for practice and the 36 bolts that come with it are only about $12.00.
I used a box with two layers of styrofoam for a target and only had one bolt damaged through multiple uses. Its important to note that this crossbow is not a toy and has the potential to hurt or even kill.
I would not recommend using a wooden target for practice. Overall, I am very satisfied with this product from Bear Archery and would definitely buy more of their products in the future.
The only downside to this product is that there is a lack of information given about its speed. Does anyone know how fast it is? Despite that, I would still highly recommend this crossbow.
