Body Armor Basics for Single Officer Assailant Response

This video will that provides basic information on SOAR basic equipment of body armor for response.

Single Officer Assailant Response or SOAR is a tactical concept used by individual security officers when they are required to respond to critical incidents involving an active assailant. It’s not the preferred method of response; however, budget restraints, culture and other internal factors usually limit armed protection to one officer.

SOAR works best when the customer (school, pre-school, church, etc.) and the individual officer develop active assailant plans that include communication procedures, standard response protocols, and equipment and training standards. Providing a solo response to an active assailant places the individual officer at higher risk for injury. In addition, the officer will be required to have enhanced problem-solving abilities that can only be gained through training and experience. Again, SOAR limits your school’s armed response to an active assailant event; however, having an immediate solo-responder on-site may be better than waiting for police to arrive and solve the problem.
