The Dornier Do 17

The #Dornier Do 17, known as the "Flying Pencil," was a #German light #bomber that played a crucial role during the early years of #worldwar2 . Its slender, aerodynamic design allowed it to be faster and more maneuverable than many contemporary bombers, designed to evade enemy fighters rather than fight them off. Armed with several machine guns and able to carry up to 1,000 kg of bombs, the #Do17 was vital in the #Blitzkrieg campaigns against Poland and the Low Countries. Despite shortcomings, such as limited bomb load and defensive firepower, its service extended into night bombing over Britain and tactical bombing support in the Mediterranean and Eastern Front.
