Historic blaze in downtown Los Angeles

A massive fire destroyed an under construction apartment complex in Los Angeles, California on December 8th, 2014. Two nearby buildings also suffered damage. Local authorities were forced to close parts of two major freeways following the incident. David Ortiz, a public information officer at the Los Angeles Fire Department, called the blaze "historic".
