Scientists Kristian Andersen and Robert Garry testified on the origins of COVID-19 before the House Oversight Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic. They, along with others, authored a paper early on in the pandemic titled, “The Proximal Origin of SARS-CoV-2,” which stated the virus likely originated from nature. Republicans on the committee cast doubt on this conclusion, alleging the scientists were part of a laboratory leak cover-up that occurred in Wuhan, China. Mr. Andersen and Mr. Garry stood by their findings, saying no evidence of a leak was found through the scientific method and that politics played no role in their research.
