MediEvil is an Action-Adventure video game for the PlayStation released in October 1998 in Europe and North America and June 1999 in Japan. It had a sequel in 2000, MediEvil 2, also for PlayStation. Later, in 2005, it was rebranded as MediEvil Resurrection for the PlayStation Portable.

History
One hundred years ago a powerful wizard tried to conquer the kingdom of Gallowmere (1286), the legendary hero Sir Daniel Fortesque died bravely in the battle of Gallowmere against the wizard Zarok. Since then a local legend (invented by the king) has emerged that Sir Dan had defeated Zarok and thus saved the kingdom of Gallowmere. What Zarok doesn't know is that his spell has also brought back from the dead the "hero" of old, Sir Daniel Fortesque, giving him a chance to redeem himself before the most honorable warriors in the realm.
