Freediving Christ of Abyss and Trolling for Grouper

On this day I run out of Key Largo with my parents to do some freediving at the Christ of Abyss underwater statue which is located in the John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. After swimming with Christ himself we do some fishing and trolling for grouper using plugs along the Key Largo patch reefs.

There's something about being the only people freediving at the underwater statue, christ of abyss that is just magica. What a beautiful reef full of life here in Key Largo, Florida.

Now while the christ of abyss underwater statue is a dive spot worth visiting you know I have fishing on my mind. Trolling for grouper to be specific. Trolling key largo is one thing, but trolling patch reefs is a completely other thing that can catch some great fish!

After an hour or so at the christ of abyss key largo dive site I decide it's time to go fishing. We start trolling the patch reefs and it isn't long before we hook into a black grouper. The grouper was just short! So we continue trolling for grouper. It isn't long before we hook into a second fish, but this time it's a barracuda! He gets off.

The sun is setting so we decide to make our way home. It was another beautiful day visiting the christ of abyss statue and reefs in the key largo patch reefs.
