What is APS-H

APS-H refers to a digital image sensor format used in some high-end digital cameras. It is a variant of the Advanced Photo System (APS) sensor size, which was originally introduced for film photography. The "H" in APS-H stands for "High Speed."

APS-H sensors are larger than the more common APS-C sensors but smaller than full-frame sensors. The exact dimensions of an APS-H sensor can vary, but it typically falls between APS-C and full-frame in terms of size. While APS-C sensors have a crop factor of approximately 1.5x (compared to full-frame), APS-H sensors typically have a crop factor of around 1.3x.

The APS-H format was primarily used in some professional-level cameras, particularly those manufactured by Canon. The larger sensor size offered certain advantages, such as improved low-light performance and better control over depth of field compared to APS-C sensors.
