How to Detect Nozzle Wear

Detecting nozzle wear is tougher than it sounds. While a nozzle might look fine to the human eye, this may not give you the true picture when it comes to actual spray nozzle wear. There are several indicators of nozzle wear.

Worn, clogged or damaged spray nozzles will not perform per specification and can result in uneven coating, cooling, cleaning, humidifying, and drying. This usually leads to Quality control issues and increased scrap. The flow rate of a spray nozzle will increase as the surfaces of the orifice and/or the internal core begin to wear. Nozzles will spray over capacity and the result is wasted water, chemicals and energy.
