CORRECTIONS TO MY STATEMENTS AT THE 7-2-23 CLASS

>> In our discussion about the concept of “the cross,” I made statements to the effect that the Hindu yogis really do not believe in the horizontal bar, in interpersonal relationships as an essential part of the path. Later I remembered Sathya Sai Baba (1926 – 2011), who is known for his quote "Love All, Serve All. Help Ever, Hurt Never." In my brief check on Sai Baba I found that the category for his teachings is the “Hindu Reform Movement,” which apparently is an umbrella term for trends in modern Hinduism that advocate a greater emphasis on involvement in the world than has traditionally been the case. This paragraph is a correction to my precise statement, but the fact that making interpersonal relationships a priority is considered “reform” within Hinduism proves my point as well as anything could. Also, my comments about the cross and the difference between East and West were not restricted to Hinduism but in some cases referred to Eastern religions in general. At a later class Alex informed us that the horizontal bar of the cross is a major aspect of the Sikh religion.
>> At H:MM:SS to H:MM:SS I stated that “metanoia” is Greek for “change your mind.” In fact metanoia is the noun form and is Greek for “change of mind,” which is translated into English as “repentance.” The verb that means “change your mind” but is translated into English as “repent” is “metanoeó.” We discussed this in detail at the 7-23-23 class.
>> At H:MM:SS to H:MM:SS class I stated that Jesus defined our relationships with himself and with the Holy Spirit as teaching-learning relationships. At the 7-23-23 class I expanded on that: he defined our relationships with himself and with the Holy Spirit as teaching-learning relationships AND leading-following relationships.
>> At ABOUT 53:55 to H:MM:SS I stated that the series of online articles about reincarnation in the New Testament and in the Christian tradition at reluctant-messenger.com has six articles. In fact it has ten articles.
>> At 1:01:58 to 1:02:04 “Yoga Prabhavananda” should have been “Swami Prabhavananda.”
>> During open discussion I gave a short commentary on the book of Job. At 1:27:38 I stated that three friends came to counsel Job. In fact there were four men who counseled Job. Also, my statement that Job would not change his mind was not meant as a statement that Job would not go forward into metanoia; my point that he would not go backwards to blaming God or to blaming himself when he knew he was innocent. However, the essential meaning of the book is that as long as you remain in the judicial paradigm you will never understand the truth. In that sense it is the story of a man who had near perfect devotion but who never did meta his noia to the truth about reality and about our relationship to God. In the last chapter we see also that the author also never changed his mind out of the JP and out of the fundamental accusation against God.
