What Happened To The Force Awakens? | Star Wars: Episode VII Retrospective

When Episode VII came out in 2015 I thought it was great. But The Force Awakens was followed up with a few Star Wars films that I personally didn't like. Here I ask what happened to the sequel trilogy and the brand BEFORE The Mandalorian and the Book of Boba Fett. Which coincidentally had a trailer released today.
