-adults: settle down to under 10
Study: young women PCOS
-not positive for insulin resistance
-not overweight, HOMA-IR normal

much higher than control group
[no PCOS; lower adipose-IR score]
Problem starts in fat cells, then
ranges to other tissues

Triglycerides fastest responders
to low carb eating...
-will plummet
-best marker for heart disease
[LDL is terrible predictor]

WHY DON'T DOCTORS MEASURE
TRIGLYCERIDES MORE?
-no drugs for that!!

-free fatty acids--lipolysis
-lipogenesis [new fat] in liver
-as triglycerides in VLDL & LDL
[main transporters in blood]
-insulin dramatically raises triglycerides
