According to the esoteric school of Pythagoras, the universe was music. Each of the planets in our solar system all carried their own unique tone; deriving from its size, proportions and orbit. These tones were believed to harmonize, and create a celestial symphony, the "Musica Universalis". Some believed that this universal music wasn't audible to us perse, but rather could be heard by the soul.
