Is our Struggle OVER? Lithium Battery Upgrade S4E13

For all of you that have been with us this season you know we have struggled with one very significant issue.

*Our Batteries!*

Electricity on a boat is really what keeps the entire system going on our blue water cruising sail boat. From the simple task of running the water pump to turning over our engine when required. Our depleting AGM batteries have really made us take notice of what is important and what is luxury on Honu. We have stressed over the tiniest amperage drop just to make sure we could make it through to the next day.

Our new Victron MPPT's are all Bluetooth and we will be able to have accurate reading of what our solar is now producing. As well, they will be able to communicate with our 2, 200Ah Amperetime plus Lithium batteries (LiTime). Together this smart system should make a world of difference for us going forward.

So the question is. Will this lithium upgrade be the answer to all of our electrical woes? Can we finally start using our boat like a sail boat and not a very slow motor boat? Will we be able to use our interior cabin lights at night?

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see… But now, we’re one step closer.
