Medal of Honor is a 1999 first-person shooter video game developed by DreamWorks Interactive and published by Electronic Arts for the PlayStation. It is the first entry in the Medal of Honor series.

The gameplay features combined arms first-person shooting during World War II, as the player character (Jimmy Petterson) completes various missions for the Office of Strategic Services (OSS).

The concept, production, and story were created by American film director and producer Steven Spielberg, combining his deep interest in World War II.[1]

The game was released to universal acclaim and has been credited with popularizing the WWII shooter trend. The game was followed by Medal of Honor: Underground, leading to a commercially successful series.
