Setting Things in Order Pt. 1 - I Chron. 23-25

Have you heard people say that God is a God of order? It's true. In speaking about how the gifts of the Spirit are manifest, I Cor. 14:33 tells us that "God is not the author of confusion." I Cor. 14:40 goes on to remind us to do all things "decently and in order." This is the MO of our God. As we close out I Chron., we will spend our time in these last seven chapters observing David as he prepares for his own death by setting things in order. He specifically orders the temple service – i.e., who will do what. Between gathering the supplies and setting the people in order, David is doing what he can to make sure that the temple construction, and subsequent worship, honors God as it should.

Fast forward to 2023 and the modern church. God is still a God of order. While we are to be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit, the Spirit will not lead us to disorder. He often does things outside of the order we have attempted to establish, but the Spirit is still orderly in what he does. The Holy Spirit doesn't create chaos. The Father and Son don't create chaos. So as Christians, our lives shouldn't be chaotic and disorderly. We all have a function in the body of Christ. There is order within those many functions. That's what our lives, both individually and collectively, should demonstrate.
