An intelligence analyst is certainly aware that there are plenty of facts available, and not every bit of information is necessarily intelligence, but just data, which requires refinement and analysis. However, even Sherlock Holmes, who was not even a learned man, like Doctor Watson, was aware that one of the most essential skills for a sleuth is to know exactly what facts are important, before trying to solve the puzzle.
