In a warning shot to the rest of the Premier League, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola says Erling Haaland has returned even fitter than last season.

Haaland scored twice in his first action on Sunday as City defeated Japanese J.League side Yokohama F Marinos 5-2 in the club's pre-season opener in Tokyo.

But Guardiola said he expects Haaland to get even sharper as his pre-season conditioning ramps up and that he "will be in better condition than he is now" when Manchester City begin its treble title defence.

Guardiola also said the injured Kevin De Bruyne "feels much, much, much better" and he expects the Belgian star to begin training soon.
