I have tried a few other Inspection cameras or endoscopes previously but most have been reliant on an app and need to be connected to a phone or tablet by USB, Bluetooth or Wifi. Not so here. This is a standalone unit with all you need included in the box.
In the box, you get the combined 4.3" IPS screen and control panel, a hard-wired 5m heavy duty cable with the camera lens on the end, a set of lens accessories consisting of a hook, side mirror, magnet, fixing buckle together with a well written and easy to read user guide. Build quality is excellent throughout and this IP67 waterproof product is clearly designed for industrial as well as home use.
Looking at the unit we see the colour screen on the front with good sized physical buttons for screen brightness, menu navigation, and image control. On the top is the large sized power on/off button. Immediately below the screen are buttons for screen Brightness Up, Reset, Brightness Down, Black and White mode. Below is a circular array of buttons with controls for Contrast Up, Contrast Down, Zoom In, Zoom Out, and Image Rotate. Below are buttons for LED Brightness Up and LED Brightness Down. On the side of the device is a grommet protected bay containing the reset button, USB-C port, and a red/green charging status LED.
The device has a built-in non-replaceable 2000mAh Lithium Ion battery which is charged through the USB-C port in the bay on the side. One charge should give around four hours of run time. Note that the display does not support fast charging and so be sure to use a standard USB outlet.
Operating the unit is simple enough. After powering on the screen will begin displaying whatever the lens can see. You can then view the 1080p video and can use the control buttons to obtain the best quality image. A set of accessories that fit onto the probe tip to allow simple tasks to be performed is included. These can be a bit fiddly to fit but can be useful in certain circumstances.
Video quality is excellent considering the size of the lens and the low price of the device. This particular unit, which is for inspection only, does not support recording, which is a pity, but no doubt an enhanced model with this feature will be available soon.
This is an excellent device, well made and robust enough for commercial use but simple enough for use at home with results good enough for both. For the current price of £39.99, this is rather a good buy.
