The Curse of the Ninth

What happens to many composers after they finish their ninth symphony? Well according to composer Arnold Schoenberg (1874-1951), they die. Cementing this superstition with the death of Schoenberg's friend Gustav Mahler (1860-1911) during his tenth symphony, many other composers have followed suit -- with some exceptions.
