Baddiel attack on Oppenheimer non-Jewish film casting backfires.

David Baddiel has decided that casting Cillian Murphy as Oppenheimer instead of a Jewish actor is cancel culture.
Right, so as you know, or regular viewers will certainly know, there’s a special place in my heart for exposing hypocrisy, because so often those bleating about a given issue are hardly the best arbiters to be doing so and thus we come to David Baddiel and his apparent one man crusade against antisemitism and for Jewish rights, but often does so without one iota of self-awareness. Now for many of us who have come from the Labour left, Baddiel is yet another figure who jumped on the get Jeremy Corbyn bandwagon, fully opposed to him, fully supportive it seemed of all the allegations made against him and his administration and the accusations of antisemitism aimed at them. He was arguably more nuanced about it, positioning himself in terms of Corbyn having a lack of a self awareness on the issue, of not being competent enough to root it out, though of course as we’ve come to know since the Forde Report came out, since the EHRC report came out, we know the issue does exist, because obviously it does, it exists in all societal bodies to one extent or another, though was never found to be worse there than elsewhere and Corbyn had actually p gone a long way to dealing with said issues, many of which had been swept under the carpet by the previous right-wing administration leaving a backlog of complaints to be dealt with. Starmer put the general secretary responsible for the that in the House of Lords of course. Aside from Corbyn though, he’s weighed in elsewhere, though his weight is a little on the light side. In his latest example of his own lack of self awareness, he has attacked the film Oppenheimer, for casting Irish actor Cillian Murphy in the lead role of J. Robert Oppenheimer, instead of a Jewish actor, because Oppenheimer himself was Jewish. Baddiel feels this is, in his opinion, another example of the erasure of Jews and therefore it is antisemitic, going on beneath the surface of story telling. I saw this headline and I thought to myself my God what is this fool banging on about now, I wonder how many successful Jewish actors and actresses there are that would undermine his accusation that they’re being erased. Natalie Portman, Gal Gadot, Scarlett Johansson, Jake & Maggie Gyllenhaal, Dustin Hoffman, Mel Brooks, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller, Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd, the list goes on and on, there are loads of them when you get into it and actually look. Cancel culture is probably a bit of a stretch therefore, on the basis of religion, but according to Baddiel Oppenheimer proves it, but he wasn’t finished there, because he decided to accuse J. Robert Oppenheimer of liking to pretend he wasn’t Jewish too.
