Is It True That an Armed Society is a Polite Society?

Washington Gun Law President, William Kirk, discusses two pieces of good news and the possible connection that no one in main stream media is willing to make. It seems that for the first time, in a long time, homicide numbers are dropping throughout the U.S. This, of course, is very welcome news. But at the same time, another news story tells us that for the last 47 consecutive months, Americans have purchased in excess of 1 million firearms each month. This begs the question, what author Robert Heinlein stated that "an armed society is a polite society." Is this true? Do the numbers actually support this?
