Riverkeeper gained closure of one of the state’s most notoriously harmful landfills, spent 1980s giving notice Hudson could no longer serve as an open sewer for industry/municipal government. Bobby was chief prosecuting attorney for the Hudson River Fishermen’s Association, HRFA.

He spearheaded Riverkeeper’s expansion to help protect New York City’s upstate reservoir system, saving billions of dollars in unnecessary filtration costs, ensuring tens of thousands of acres of sensitive reservoir buffer lands would be preserved, through the internationally-renowned 1997 NYC Watershed Agreement.

Helped found Waterkeeper Alliance in 1999, the movement for clean water spread across the globe to encompass over 300 other keeper groups on 6 continents.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. deviated from much of the Democratic Party during a town hall with NewsNation July 2023, saying there is nothing policymakers can “meaningfully” do through gun control to reduce the gun violence epidemic in America.

Kennedy, rivaling President Biden for the 2024 Democratic nomination, was asked by an audience member how he would use federal resources to slow gun violence.

“Anybody who tells you that they’re going to be able to reduce gun violence through gun control at this point I don’t think is being realistic,”
His emphasis on refusing to infringe on Americans’ constitutional rights echoes a common Republican position on the limitations of responding to gun violence through gun control.
