What if the entire world as you know it—people, things, events, and activities—were suddenly to collapse? What if your sources of comfort, luxury, and entertainment were lost forever? Sounds like a bad sci-fi movie, doesn’t it? That kind of thought frightens people. Nobody wants the stock market to crash, the power grid to fail, their employer to go bankrupt, or a hurricane to level their city. Too much of our lives depends on the world continuing on just as it is.
