POW: AFU servicemen choose life and captivity in first battle

31.07.23▫️ POWs said they were forcibly mobilised into the army. The ukrainian military commissars, despite the illnesses and contraindications to hard physical labour of the servicemen, declare everyone fit for the service and send them for training. The soldiers were trained at firing ranges near Rovno, Lvov and even 3 weeks in France, but the training was poor: during practical firing, the grenade launcher was allowed to fire just once. 'I served in the Soviet Army - there was more training,' said the prisoner.

▫️ On the front line, Ukrainians were equipped only with assault rifles and grenade launchers, they had no special equipment. Morale in the unit was low. There were no commanders at the front lines: Ukrainian officers directed the troops from the rear area by radio. 'A private was appointed a senior soldier. They gave him a walkie-talkie, and that was it,' said a prisoner.
