Should Christians Keep the Sabbath?

The Sabbath is not about a day off but about a day of rest, reflection, and rejuvenation.

1. Old Testament Law of Sabbath
Sabbath was the fourth commandment
Sabbath was celebrating God’s creation. (Ex. 20v11)
Sabbath was a day of rest from labor. (Lev. 23v3)
Sabbath was to reflect on deliverance from Egypt. (Deut. 5v15)
Sabbath was a witness to other nations. (Ex. 31v13)

2. New Testament Practice of Sabbath
The new covenant does not command any particular day to be observed by Christians (Rom 14v5-6; Gal. 4v9-11).

Sabbaths are not named among the necessary requirements of the gospel (Acts 15v20)

Each of the Ten Commandments is repeated in the New Testament, except for the command to Sabbath (interestingly, the command to work remains clear in passages like 2 Thessalonians 3v10).

3. The principle of the Sabbath
Trust God to supernaturally provide.
Example: 7 days Adventist - they live 10 years longer - amounts to a lifetime of the sabbath
