Random Gameplay 68: Super Mario Kart

Mode 7 of the Super Nintendo has been unleashed in full force to create the gameplay of Super Mario Kart! Quite innovative in it's time (and timeless for that matter) with it's racing plus item combo in that you couldn't just get ahead and expect to stay ahead 100% of the time as there was more strategy than that due to said items. Staying ahead required clever blocking and trying to get ahead requires good shooting. Well, for the most part. There are homing red shells and lightning which hits everyone who isn't using a star. But you still need to use them wisely as a well placed shell or lightning (like just before a cliff turn) can stall an opponent more than they'd do normally. So the second screen with the map greatly comes into play to get an idea of where they are, plus the ability to peek behind you.
