“Preferred pronouns” are absurd

Where did we get the idea that you can claim for yourself certain parts of speech? And put those words into other people’s mouths to use whenever they refer to you? Moreover, where did we get the idea that pronouns are meant to convey some deep truth about you? Are you male? Great. You’re “he.” Are you female? Great. You’re “she.” People can still very much get to know you to see that you’re much more than “he” or “she”—just like we all are.
