Are parental rights child abuse? That's the question being debated in California, with conservatives saying no and some progressives saying yes. At issue is how parents of children who believe they're a different gender than their body are able to influence their child's ability to transition to their preferred gender. Those who want the child's preference to take precedent say teachers, professionals and politicians should be able to decide the child's fate.
