HISTORY OF QUTAB MINAR (DELHI)
The Qutub Minar is a historical monument located in Delhi, India. It was built by Qutb-ud-din Aibak, the first ruler of the Delhi Sultanate, in 1193. Originally, the construction began to celebrate the victory over the last Hindu ruler of Delhi, but it was completed by his successor, Iltutmish, in 1368. The minar is a stunning example of Indo-Islamic architecture and stands at a height of around 73 meters (239 feet), with five distinct stories, each adorned with intricate carvings and inscriptions. Over the centuries, it has undergone several repairs and restorations due to earthquakes and other natural events, ensuring its preservation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Qutub Minar is a significant historical landmark and a popular tourist attraction in India.
