Why was Jesus of lowly birth?

Every December, the birth of Jesus is brought back to mind as Christmas is celebrated throughout the world. The story of Christ's humble birth in the manger reminds many Christians of the way the life of our beloved Saviour Jesus Christ begun.

But was.there a reason for it? Why did God not allow Jesus to be the son of a Pharisee, or some influential Jewish man?
