Freedom vs. Fear

One can only seek to achieve freedom or indulge their fear. The two pursuits are mutually exclusive. By seeking to alleviate fear we give up our freedom to people who have no actual interest in our safety. We do not have a right to not be afraid, but we have a right to be free, so by seeking to grow government to escape fear we destroy freedom. You cannot do anything without risk and risk is inescapable even if you do nothing. That is why he who sacrifices freedom for safety deserves neither and will lose both.
