The man who would become The Joker started out as a mob enforcer, before graduating to pulling heists on his own. It was while robbing the Ace Chemical Plant that he first met Batman, and where he fell into a vat of toxic waste, bleaching his skin and pulling his face into a clownish grin. His evil mind broken, he renamed himself the Joker, and his behavior became more playful, less predictable, and far more deadly. Crime became a game, and Batman became his favorite opponent.
