Story of Lazarus and The Rich man

The story of Lazarus and the rich man is a parable told by Jesus in the Gospel of Luke. It tells the story of a rich man who lived a life of luxury and a poor beggar named Lazarus who was covered with sores and longed to eat what fell from the rich man's table. The rich man was indifferent to Lazarus' plight and showed him no love, sympathy, or compassion whatsoever. Eventually, both Lazarus and the rich man died. Lazarus was carried by the angels to Abraham's side, while the rich man was buried and went to Hades, where he was in torment. The rich man looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. He called to him, asking for pity and requesting that Lazarus be sent to cool his tongue with a drop of water to lessen his agony in the fire. Abraham replied that there was a great chasm between them that could not be crossed, and that the rich man had received his good things in life while Lazarus had received bad things, but was now comforted in heaven. The story serves as a powerful reminder to live a life of compassion, generosity, and humility, and to treat others as we would like to be treated.
