Gander attacks other gander. He’s put back to free range. Hard to watch. No serious injuries.

There were no serious injuries, thankfully.
Importance of farm surveillance.

The geese are locked up for nesting for protection against predation. There were three ganders in the enclosure. It caused (natural) increased aggression in a small space and with breeding hormonal changes. Two of the ganders are now back to free range and our cross break boy is in the enclosure with the two geese. It’s now peaceful.

I deliberately left the footage upside due because it’s hard to watch. The camera had been knocked.
I saw Edwin attack Frasier once before and knew if it continued he would have to be put back to free range. With space they cope better because if a male tells another male to move on they have room to escape.
The enclosure is also only half the side it will be. It will be finished next week and that will give the birds a better quality of life while nesting.

There’s hens and will be three gentle roosters and all the guinea fowl. The geese can be let out when they’ve finished nesting. If they hatch goslings we will wait until they are big enough to walk to the creek and they will be locked up at night with the mothers.

The chickens and guinea fowl will be locked up until Autumn / Fall. As they have longer nesting seasons.
