Mismatch In Germany’s Words & Actions? Berlin Accused of Failing On Military Aid Promises to Ukraine

Germany is under scrutiny for purported inconsistencies between its verbal commitments and actions regarding military aid to Ukraine. While Berlin promised almost $3 billion in military aid to Ukraine in May 2023, including tanks and ammunition, recent reports suggest that only a fraction of this aid has been delivered. For instance, just 10 of the 110 promised Leopard 1 tanks have reached Kyiv. While Germany has made some deliveries, like food rations and some military equipment, there have been notable absences in aid, especially concerning long-range Taurus missiles which Ukraine is keen on acquiring. Critics, including opposition politicians, claim Germany isn't fully recognising its responsibilities towards European security.
