What made the story an incredible award-winning Tale was the fact that there is no good guy or bad guy in the entire story other than Brainiac's subplot. Both the Soviet Superman and president Luthor truly believe in their hardest of hearts that what they are doing to their own people and to the world is in their own best interest.
