Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen signs permitless concealed carry bill into law

Calling it a "historic day," Gov. Jim Pillen signed Nebraska's permitless concealed carry bill into law.

"With the signing of this bill into law, we do justice to the constitutional promise. Promises made, promises kept," Pillen said.

Nearly all 26 senators who co-sponsored the bill were at the bill signing ceremony Tuesday, including the bill's introducer, state Sen. Tom Brewer.

"LB 77 has been a seven-year process, so to finally have all the votes done and the governor sign it is a big relief," Brewer said.

Facebook And Instagram Start Blocking News Content In Canada In Response To Country’s New Law

In compliance with Canada’s Online News Act, Facebook and Instagram have begun blocking news content for users in the North American country.

The legislation, which became law in June, requires tech companies to pay news organizations in exchange for hosting their content. The law is intended to help preserve Canadian news organizations and limit the erosion of their businesses due to internet distribution. Instead of agreeing to the fees, Meta and Google have both said they would instead simply eliminate news in Canada.

Justin Trudeau was joking when he suggested he bribed the media

A Feb. 2 Instagram post claims that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau “pays mainstream media $600 million to report in favor of him.”

The evidence? A clip of Trudeau saying just that.

“You sometimes hear about liberal bias in the media these days, how they’re constantly letting our government off the hook for no good reason,” he says in a video in the post. “Frankly, I think that’s insulting. It’s clear that they let us off the hook for a very good reason. Because we pay them $600 million.”

The video in the post then cuts to an image of Trudeau with text appearing that says “Mainstream media? I just bought it.” Meanwhile, he can still be heard saying: “You don’t get stellar headlines like these without greasing the wheels a bit.”
