Was "Old School" Journalism Better?

I've been working as a journalist since 1986. My Maverick News co-host Rick Walker brings 35 years of experience to the table, 25 of those years at CTV in #Canada.

We both started our careers in the 1980s, long before the internet changed how the news is covered (for the better, we might argue).

On this edition of Maverick News, Rick and I explore the question: was old school" journalism -- objective and unbiased, the way our generation was trained to do our jobs -- better than "new school" opinion/activist journalism? Is partisan bias killing our profession?

We also talk about how election coverage has changed over the past 40 years, compare notes, and share some funny stories of our early years as reporters back in the Reagan era! (Yes, we are THAT old!)

We also discuss the importance of the Julian #Assange case to the First Amendment, and journalists all over the world.
