The National Citizens Inquiry testimony of Scott Crawford, a paramedic for over 30 years from Alberta. In his testimony, he describes the challenges faced because of his decision not to get the covid vaccine.
Early into the pandemic, Scott took things seriously. As a frontline worker, he made preparations to provide for his family should something happen to him. When the vaccine mandates arrived, he attempted to get a religious exemption but was denied. He was eventually suspended from his job for over 3 months. When applying for unemployment benefits, he was also denied, and what concerned him was the "misconduct" reason given for the denial. He sent several letters and emails to his union, his MLP, and the health minister, with no response from Alberta Health for many months.
He describes the changes in the call volume before covid and after the vaccine roll-out. He also talks about some of the patients he transported to the hospital and their symptoms.
Scott reads out loud some of the death threats he received, including an online campaign started by a physician intended on shaming and bullying him for not being vacinnated. The workplace turned hostile, leaving Scott feeling isolated and targeted. It was a very difficult time for his family, and it has been difficult not to feel contempt. However, his deep faith in God allows forgiveness and gives him hope.
