This week, the news we’ve all been waiting for, the news we refused to let ourselves believe, the news that terrified us to our bones, has finally happened. As the New York Times put it: “He has for months been saying in public what many in his party only whisper in private.” We’ve all heard the whispers. It’s time to speak them out loud.

That’s right: Dean Phillips is considering running for president!

I know, we’re late to the story and everyone’s already talking about it. The Dean Phillips cruise has already prepared to leave the dock, as they say. But the news is too huge to avoid, so here we are. Let’s get absurd.

For those of you under your rocks, Dean Phillips is a member of Congress “representing a district that includes the suburbs west of Minneapolis.” (Credit again to the New York Times for that scoop). In a text message this week, he confirmed his interest in running for president.

So if this isn’t huge news, then why are the New York Times, Meet the Press, and CNN all reporting on it? Is it strange that they’re already seeming to give more importance to a Dean (checking my notes, already forgot his name) Phillips potential run than the actual candidacies of Marianne Williamson, RFK Jr, and Cornel West?

Could the DNC be running yet another inside scam to choose their next candidate? If they see Joe Biden as too old, would the establishment really choose another centrist establishment candidate to prop up to replace their guy, effectively building their own Robocop of pro-war anti-worker beliefs?
