Last Call The Summer of 82

The Summer Blockbuster Films. Right about now, you're probably hearing a lot of people bemoaning how they miss that annual trend. But it wasn't always a thing. There is some debate about whether it all happened spontaneously one year, or as part of an industry plan that culminated that year, or if it was a gradual thing that ultimately became a stable, but most agree that the Summer of 1982 was the nexus point. Tonight, we are going back to look at the films of May to August of that year and the films that came out of that summer. But we're also going to look at the cultural impact, and how ripple effect those films had.
