When I was about 8 years into working as a police officer, I was pulled into an internal investigation because of the actions of another officer. It was a frustrating process even though I did nothing wrong.
I was burned out and stressed out and asked a retired police officer if this was worth it anymore because the internal department stress was worse than the street. He asked, "Why did you get into this?"
It was just the right question to ask.
