Preserving a tattoo while removing scar tissue

The challenge in this case was simply trying to preserve the tattoo while removing the offending lesion, which in this case turned out to be scar tissue. Working with tattoos is always tricky but particular if there is flowing script. Beyond altering the letters themselves, if you take out tissue, which would have made this procedure much simpler, you end up changing the symmetry of the lines which looks awful. Otherwise this procedure would be very straightforward.
