3 KEY BEHAVIORS for SUCCESS if I could start over at 23. (Fresh out of college)
If I were starting over again, 23 and fresh out of college and looking to improve my life, I would want to adopt these 3 key behaviors. You see, I didn't always life the lifestyle I do now. I had to take the long way around to get here. I spent the entire first half of my 20's being a weekend warrior. I drank a lot, I stayed out late and I wasn't moving much. College was over, and I started working. If I wasn't working I was drinking. And if I was working, I wasn't moving.
I went from being in great shape in college to a slob by 25. I couldn't understand why this was happening because I was so entrenched in the rage life style. If I was 23 again here is what I would do differently.
1. I would set a steady bed time. Ideally a bed time that gets me 8 hours of sleep per day. I would defend this sleep schedule with my life.
2. I would give up on the alcohol. When I drank, I drank a lot. I was in a perpetual state of being hung over or winding up for another wild weekend. But I made no progress in the real things that matter in life. When I got to 27 years old I had nothing to show for all those years. None of the parties mattered. I never found what I was looking for at the bottom of the bottle.
3. I'd get walking. Walking has a way of sorting out our problems. Not only does it get the calories burning but it gets the knobs turning. Whenever I am faced with problems I walk until I figure it out. Most of the times, solutions come to me in ways that I wouldn't have thought of if I wasn't moving. And did I mention walking feels great? I look forward to every chance I get to go for a nice long 3-4 mile walk. When I finish, my mind is always at peace.
