Smog Day and Cherry Pitting 6-28-23

That's right, smog. Right here in River City.
Weird orange sun this morning and haze all day. Worst air quality reading I saw today was 191, which is pretty bad. Thanks, Canada. One more day of this and then it looks like the weather pattern is changing--lots more chances of rain as well.

I pitted and cooked 12 pints of cherries today for pie filling. I will freeze them once they've cooled overnight in the fridge. 10-12 cups of pitted cherries to 2 cups sugar and 7-8 T. cornstarch--stir together and let sit for about 30 minutes, then cook until thickened.

Most of the cherries have been hail damaged which let to fungal disease. We would have had the largest crop ever but...hey, God is still in control.
