We have two very greedy and exceptionally naughty dogs that need distracting as much as possible. Often they get bored during the evening and treats are consumed instantly and just as quickly forgotten. This set of licky mats is a great way of keeping them entertained and occupied.

These silicone mats, £9.99 for a set of two, have a ribbed and patterned surface on one side with suction cups on the other. The idea is that you smear peanut butter, meat paste or something similar on the rough side and the dogs will have to spend time to get all the food off. There is no need to pile the food on, just a thin layer across the whole pad will do. Poppy and Blenheim will spend ages licking at it to get every last drop off and they always make such a good job of it that there is hardly any washing up needed after it!

In the pack, you receive two 20x20 cm food grade silicone licky mats, a small silicone food spatula and a cleaning brush. Everything seems well made and of good quality and should last the course. Each of the two mats has three differently textured food spreading areas and no less than 25 small suction cups on the reverse. When stuck to a suitable surface these mats simply will not move.

A cleaning brush is included and this is handy for getting impacted food out of crevices and although the manufacturers recommend hand washing the mats are also dishwasher safe.
