The National Citizens Inquiry testimony of Madison Lowe, an engineer and software developer.
After the covid vaccine roll-out, Madison went to the Canada Health website to check any adverse reactions to the new vaccine. With the pressure to get vacinnated in order to travel, go to restaurants, and exercise at the gym, she decided to get 2 doses of the Moderna vaccine. Within days, she was experiencing a high resting heart rate and severe anxiety. A past gastrointestinal health condition that was under control soon flared up and required medication to alleviate the symptoms.
Her doctor filed a vaccine adverse reaction report, which was initially accepted. However, a call from Alberta Health let her know it would not be submitted because she did not represent any of the known side effects. This was unacceptable. Why wouldn't they want to document and research unknown side effects like hers? Wasn't this an adverse reaction recorded by a physician? Madison realized the website she looked at for guidance wasn’t keeping accurate records, and she lost complete faith in the system.
In her testimony she gave excellent recommendations on how to evaluate post marketing of the vaccine, on accurate and unbiased data collection, the side effects, ingredients, and other unknown factors about products, that should be made transparent to the public.
The existing reporting system that avoids unknown adverse reactions reporting is broken and does not meet necessary standards. The data would be insufficient to give an accurate count of adverse reactions to the covid vaccine. It wouldn't be a viable source of information to go to for the safety of the vaccine.
