GoldenEye 007 00 Agent Playthrough (Actual N64 Capture) - Dam
[Note: This video and description were originally posted on Youtube on May 10, 2016.]
This is part 1 of my capture of me playing through the missions of GoldenEye 007 for the Nintendo 64. This is not an emulator. This footage was captured directly from my Nintendo 64 using an actual GoldenEye cartridge. I'm playing on 00 Agent difficulty.
Ironically, even though I love old school first-person shooters due to GoldenEye and Perfect Dark, I never owned GoldenEye back in the day. When GoldenEye was originally released in 1997, I paid no attention to the game or to the FPS genre in general. However, GoldenEye kept charting really high in Nintendo Power magazine, which made me wonder what all the fuss was about. I also started hearing other kids at my school talking about how much fun the multiplayer deathmatches were.
Some time later I managed to play the game at a friend's house, and I instantly became hooked on the multiplayer. GoldenEye was simply amazing, and single-handedly caused me to become interested in the FPS genre. Throughout the late '90s I continued to play the game at my friend's house, and I think I may have even rented it once or twice. I still remember all the explosions and constantly running into hidden proximity mines on nearly every door while battling other people. It was wonderful. But for whatever reason, I never bothered to buy GoldenEye or ask for it as a gift.
However, when I heard about Perfect Dark through Nintendo Power and gaming websites, I decided I had to get that game on its release date. I later spent countless hours playing Perfect Dark and creating my own Combat Simulator scenarios. As far as I was concerned, Perfect Dark simply made GoldenEye irrelevant due to its better design and multiplayer simulants, so there was no point in going back to buy GoldenEye.
Last year I decided it was time to finally pick up GoldenEye, so I bought a complete copy off Ebay and picked up the official Nintendo Power Player's Guide as well. I'll be using the Player's Guide to help complete each mission.
This game actually has a native widescreen mode (similar to Donkey Kong 64 and Perfect Dark) that you can enable during the missions, so I'll be enabling that feature.
In this first part I completed Mission 1: Dam.
Recorded with the Hauppauge HD PVR and the official N64 S-video cable with native widescreen mode enabled during missions. I used a Toshiba model D-R550 DVD Recorder to upconvert the N64's native 240p signal to 480i so that the Hauppauge could capture the console's audio/video signal.
I'm using a standard N64 controller.
