Negative Consequences Are Part of God's Plan

In Leviticus 25:35-43 God says that a man may sell himself as a slave to a wealthier brother as part of God's welfare plan. The purpose is so that the poor man will learn from his mistakes and become wiser for it. Removing the consequences of bad decisions sets people up to repeat mistakes.
